Troy University Football

Real Media recently spent a day on location at Fort Rucker Army Aviation Base.

Our crew was on location shooting a football intro for the Troy University Football program. 

We spent a full day shooting the players around two AH-64A Apache Attack Helicopters.  It was incredible getting a behind the scenes look at our military in action.  Fort Rucker is the site where most of the pilot training is done for helicopter pilots.

The Apache is an amazing weapon. 

The training staff at Fort Rucker has pilots certified and combat ready in only 120 hours of flight training.  That is an incredible accomplishment. 

The Troy football open was created around the theme "The Troy Bomb Squad".  Their team features a wide open offense with many weapons.  Shooting the team around the Apache was a perfect fit.

Chicago Bears

Real Media recently finished a Helmet Shuffle game for the Chicago Bears and Dick's Sporting Goods .  This turned out to be fun project for several reasons.

We began the project thinking that we would keep the shuffle game pretty simple.  When we presented the first version to the Bears they asked us to make it much more challenging.  It is very hard to follow now!  The Bears fans are going to have to really pay attention to keep track of which helmet has the ball. 

The other challenge was to create a game that works in the unique aspect ratio of the Bear's video board.  We are very excited to see how the fans react!

University of Texas

Real Media sends out congratulations to the University of Texas for winning one of three logo animations given away at a recent conference.  We are very excited to create a logo package for their extremely large HD video board.  

Nothing like seeing your work on a screen that is bigger than life! 
Longhorn Fans are some of the most fired up fans in college athletics and we are thrilled to contribute to an atmosphere unlike any other in sports!

Congratulations to the Longhorns!  We look forward to more opportunities to design for the Largest HD video board in the world.

IDEA Conference - Denver

We recently returned from the IDEA Conference in Denver, Colorado.  We exhibited in the trade show and had a great time! 

On Sunday I played in a golf tournament with Ed Filomia from the Miami Heat, Cliff Wight and Eric Pangborn from Sound & Video Creations.  We ended up -6 and had a great time!

The Three Amigos!

Monday night we headed out to a ranch to practice roping and cowboy things.  The barbecue was excellent!  Here's a shot of David Peterson from KU showing the proper form to rope a calf.  Most people were in awe of his tremendous skill and form.

Tuesday night we went to Coors Field to view the 2007 All Star Game.  That was fun and provided some very good photo ops!  Here are some of the shots from that night.

On Wednesday night we toured Denver University and Invesco Field.  The GMA Awards are always a good time.  Our clients represented well in the voting!  It was a great time as usual and great to see our good friends that we haven't seen in a while.  Next year should be good as well.

Saint Louis University

Real Media is proud to announce our new partnership with Saint Louis University.  We are excited to work with the SLU on creating a variety of game day content for Billiken Basketball.  This image is from a Fan Game that will run during games called "Billiken Speedway Challenge".  The game is a Nascar race with three cars.  Each car will represent a different group on fans in the arena.  We have created 6 outcomes with crashes, spin outs and hard nosed racing to simulate a realistic Nascar environment.  The whole stadium and track were created in 3D to have a realistic track environment.  Click on continue reading to see more images.

Baltimore Orioles

Real Media recently developed a logo animation loop for the Baltimore Orioles.  The logo animation was created in 3D Studio MAX and composited in After Effects.  We are looking forward an opportunity to create a strong relationship with the Orioles and welcome them as a new client.

 

New Red's Mascot - Mr. Redlegs

We recently began work on a series of animations for the Cincinnati Reds.  The first step was creating a 3D model of Mr. Redlegs, the new Red's mascot.  Once the modeling process was completed in 3D Studio MAX, we rigged him up for animation in Character Studio.  We also incorporated motion capture technology to  help create realistic human-like movement in a relatively short amount of time.  We're now in the process of creating a series of animations for use in a wide variety of live game situations.  This particular animation features Mr. Redlegs shaking the "Magic 8 Ball"  to see what the message is.  We can easily change the message to match a variety of different situations.  The Stadium model and environment are used as a background for each animated segment.  These segments typically run from 7 to 10 seconds.  Sound effects and music round out the final composition.

Reds Spring Training

The Real Media crew recently finished work with the Cincinnati Reds shooting player head-shots, on-camera promos and network promos for Fox Sports Ohio in Sarasota.  Real Media spent a week working individually with over 50 players and coaches.  A makeshift studio was created on-site at camp and was comprised of a 12 X 15 foot Chroma Key Green Syc, Kino Flo and tungsten lighting, a motorized turntable, a Fisher Dolly and a teleprompter.  Each Player was shot with two cameras to maximize the footage shot while providing the most efficient use of each players time.  The footage was acquired with 2 Panasonic SDX900 cameras and shot at 24P.  The footage will be used in a variety of ways for the upcoming Reds season.

 

K-State Football Texas Bowl Update

Real Media would like congratulate the Kansas State Football Program on their great season and wish them good luck in the Texas Bowl against Rutgers on December 28th.  K-state contacted us on December 15th and ask us to update their current open to reflect their invitation to the Texas Bowl.  You can view the full open on realmedia.com in the portfolio/sports section.  We made several updates to the open including changing out highlights, billboards road signs and the Rutgers helmet.  We also cut the open down to 1:35 to meet the time requirements for the pre-game festivities.  We wish the Cats and Coach Prince good luck! Go Cats!

Tim Hortons Hockey Promo Spots

Real Media recently finished two promotions for Tim Hortons coffee. The Columbus Bluejackets Stick Kid of the Game and the Buffalo Sabres Timbits Skate.  Both spots feature the animated Tim Hortons cup playing hockey in a 3D arena.  The Stick Kid spot features the cup skating and shooting a slap shot to score a goal.  The Timbits Skate promo features a group of small cups skating in the arena.  The spots also incorporate animated donuts cheering the cups on.  The animated cups, donuts and arena were all created in 3D studio MAX and composited in Adobe After effects.  Sound effects, music and finishing were completed on AVID Adrenaline.  The spots are quickly becoming a fan favorite.
