PRESS RELEASE
LENEXA, KANSAS
- Real Media announced today the completion of
two commercial spots for Baylor University's
Men’s and Women’s basketball teams. Each individual spot features players and
coaches from the respective teams.
“Baylor has a longstanding tradition of excellence,” Says
Brad Burrow, President and Owner of Real Media, LLC, “and we’re thrilled to be
a part of that tradition, helping promote the two teams for the 2006 and ’07
season. It was important for us to not only show the players’ athleticism, but
the unique qualities of their personas as well.”
The commercials showcase visual effects frequently found
on high budget national ad campaigns. Burrow says, “We love the fact that we
can deliver a national-quality production for a fraction of the budget.
Creating more with less is a great challenge that we look forward to.”
The Bears’ players and coaches were shot over blue screen
performing athletic basketball moves. Post-production involved compositing the
blue screen footage and custom, high-end graphics in Adobe Illustrator and
After Effects. Ray Olsen, VFX Supervisor and Lead Animator for Real Media, was
in charge of creating the overall look for the spots and constructing the
separate elements. “We combined a mixture of live footage, 2D graphic elements,
and dynamic 3D animation to create a piece that showcases each athlete in a
unique environment. The versatility of the style allowed us to make 2 spots
that are immediately recognizable as related to each other and to Baylor while
giving us the freedom to allow each commercial an independent attitude.”
Ray DeWeese, Baylor Athletics Director of Marketing,
says, “Working with Real Media was a pleasure. The crew that shot our commercials was extremely professional, creative
and listened to what we wanted out of our spots.” The spots may be found on the
web at www.realme.com.
