PHITEN - MLB Fanfest

Fanfest_4Real Media recently completed a tradeshow video in HD for Phiten that aired at the MLB Fanfest in New York.

Fanfest_2

The video features animations of the Phiten technology, testimonials, features and benefits as well as TV spots.  The video was delivered on Blu-ray and received rave reviews.

Fanfest_6_2The Titanium technology is really taking off!  The benefits are truly remarkable.  Clay Buckholz of the Boston Redsox never takes his Phiten titanium necklace off!

This was a challenging and rewarding project as it required us to create 3D animations, motion graphics and compositing.

PHITEN - Joba Chamberlain Spot

Joba_3_2

Real Media recently spent a few days on location shooting a TV spot for Phiten-USA in Pittsburgh, PA.  It was decided that Pittsburgh provided the best opportunity to shoot Joba Chamberlain before the MLB All-Star break.  Joba_crew_3

Our DP Ken Brown found an incredible location about 2 miles from the Pirates Stadium to shoot the spot.

Brad_point_3

The spot features Joba throwing balls against a brick wall with a batter drawn with chalk.  We literally had about 2 and a half hours to shoot all of Joba's shots.  We were cranking.  We had crew of 10 people on location to pull it off.

In the same day we shot some kids inside of an old firehouse.  They react to the ball as it breaks through the brick wall. We had an awesome day and Joba was fabulous to work with.  The spot is running on the YES network in New York.  We finished t he spot just in time to run during the All-Star break in New York.Joba_2_4

KANSAS CITY SKY SHOW 2008

Real Media recently worked on the video for the Kansas City Sky Show 2008.

2008skyshow001lo_2

The show was created to be a multimedia presentation with fireworks, HD video and and music.  The complete show lasted about 30 minutes.  Real Media's contribution was a variety of HD footage shot around Kansas City including time lapse footage, KC landmarks, fountains and people.  The project was then edited and delivered on HDCAM to be presented on the new Royals HD video boards.  The show was a huge success and the game was sold out.  The Royals are talking about making this a yearly tradition.  Here is a press release in the KC Star.

Royals add more fireworks, T-Bones want your mullets and do you remember the A’s?

Fireworks shows are a Friday night tradition at Kauffman Stadium, but the one scheduled this Friday could start a tradition of its own.

**** The Story****

The next time you attend a sporting event, pay special attention to the big screen. Chances are the high-tech visual effects might be the work of a metro production house.

Real Media does it all when it comes to production design. The Lenexa company is in its 11th year.

Whether it is in-house production, using their green screen studio or a location shoot, they have the state of the art equipment to do the job right.

These days, the bulk of their business comes from the wide world of sports.

"We work with half of the Big 12 colleges on creating elements for their scoreboards," Brad Burrow said. "So K-State, KU, Baylor University, Oklahoma."

Burrow also listed Missouri and Ohio State University as current clients.

The televisions spots will air in local markets and possibly nationally.  The image spots were created to promote the PHITEN brand and to create product awareness.  If you keep your eyes out during MLB games you will see many of the current players wearing the necklaces.  Buchholz and Beckett both love the necklaces and rarely take them off!  Both players were great to work with!

The Pittsburgh Pirates recently contracted with Real Media to create several elements for their 2008 season.  These elements included starting lineups, logos and a rain delay animation.  These elements were created for both the main video board and and the ribbon boards in PNC Park.

A 3D Pirate ship was created for use as a background for highlighting the players.  The 3D model was created with Pittsburgh Pirates logos and branding on sails and various parts of the ship.  The players headshots are displayed on different parts of the ship.  Ribbon board animations were built to coincide with the starting lineup animations.

Houston Astros 2008 Graphics Package

01_2The Houston Astros recently contracted with Real Media to create a game opening video and headshot templates.

09The creative direction for the project was based on an idea from the Astros staff to create a 2D environment that has a 3D look with movement, depth of field player highlights and headshots.  We created this look with digital pictures of different areas of the metro Houston area.  We then cut the pictures  up and assembled them in 3D layers to create the movement and depth of field.

04_2Once the animation and movement were created we composited highlights, player posters, headshots and storm clouds in the various environments.

03We also created a 3D animation of the Astros train for 2 of the key scenes.  Lighting and particles were created in After Effects and motion tracked into the scenes. Sound effects were added as well as a sound track edited to match the animation.

10 After Effects files were provided to the Astros so they could update the headshots and open with highlights as needed through out the season.

Cincinnati Reds 2008 Graphics Package

P2242510 Real Media recently contracted with the Cincinnati Reds to create a graphics and animation package for the 2008 season. To begin the process Real Media spent a week in Sarasota at the beginning of spring training shooting the players for promos, headshots and starting lineups.  Footage was shot with XDCAM HD.  All of the player footage was shot on a green screen set in the Reds clubhouse.  Footage was also acquired in HD for the player run on.

Reds_headshotThe team headshots were created with 3D elements from the stadium model created from previous projects.  The trademark stacks from Reds stadium were used as a background and animated shooting off like roman candles.  These elements were combined with the green screen shots of players and player highlights with a 300 look.

Reds_open_shotThe player run on was created with the theme of preparing the field and team for battle. Shots from Sarasota were composited with the 3D stadium in the background to create the look of an intense hyper realistic atmosphere.  Lens flares and a very specific color palate were used to create this look.

Reds_dustyPlayer highlights are used with the headshot look on the more up tempo section with the climax of the open ending on new Reds manager Dusty Baker.

Reds_playersPlayer introductions are used from this same look and built with flexibility to change the lineup for each game.

In addition, Real Media created a logo package, matchup loops and backgrounds for the Reds production crew to use for a variety of uses.

You can see the work on our website www.realme.com under the portfolio section.
